      The Thick Of It cast
The Thick Of It satirises the workings of the British government

Award-winning political satire The Thick Of It has been re-commissioned, the BBC has confirmed.

On Monday, writer and director Armando Iannucci wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter that "another 8 Thicks have just been commissioned for next year".

It has not yet been announced when the series, which recently won three prizes at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards, will be broadcast.

Iannucci insisted this year's election would not be reflected.

"I've got a storyline that will involve both sides - irrespective of what happens in the election," he told the BBC news website.

The series scooped Broadcasting Press Guild Awards for best comedy and entertainment show, best writing and Peter Capaldi was named best actor for playing Malcolm Tucker.

The awards, which were given out at London's Theatre Royal, were voted for by media journalists.

The dark comedy, which is set in the corridors of the British government, began on BBC Four in 2005.

Iannucci, who also wrote and directed the film In The Loop, which was based on The Thick Of It, revealed he was "right in the middle" of writing another screenplay.

"[It's in a] completely different setting, not a political film at all," he said.

"It's more of a slapstick movie. Basically it involves lots of complicated and amusing ways in which two people can hurt each other."

This episode wins the Worst Episode So Far award. By a mile. Badly put together nonsense mixed up with terrible edits and pre-school acting.

I have a theory that you don't need to watch Lost anymore, you don't even need to hear the dialogue. All you need is the soundtrack, which consists of three styles:
      • Action music (running through the jungle (again), fighting, rowing, falling, etc.)
      • Mysterious music (approaching Black Smoke, random character appearing, slow reveal of new element to story.)
      • Sad music (romance, death, crying, montage.)
By just listening to the soundtrack you'd have as good an idea as anyone else about what's going on.

Why am I doing this to myself?
